Writing services: medical writing, copywriting and rewriting

My background in business-to-business publishing means that I am experienced in writing in a clear, concise style, accessible to native English speakers and non-native English speakers alike. Although most of my freelance writing work is medical writing, I also write on agrochemicals, food ingredients and non-technical subjects.

Freelance medical writing

As a medical writer, I have covered many therapeutic areas and I quickly familiarise myself with new areas. My work covers medical devices as well as pharmaceuticals. In the past 2 years, my top 10 therapy areas have been:

  • Diabetes mellitus
  • Coronary heart disease
  • Urinary disorders
  • Eczema
  • Autoimmune disorders
  • Haematology (including leukaemia)
  • Aesthetics
  • Respiratory disease
  • Alzheimer's disease
  • Infectious diseases (especially HIV and hepatitis)

I am experienced at writing for different audiences – industry executives, healthcare professionals (HCPs) and patients – and in a variety of formats, including:

  • Meeting reports
  • Advisory board reports
  • Newsletters and conference highlights
  • Web pages and apps
  • Primary manuscripts*
  • Slide decks
  • Posters
  • Abstract books
  • Author biographies
  • Workbooks
  • Sales force training materials
  • Booklets and fact sheets for patients and HCPs
  • Patient narratives

I will carry out any necessary literature searching and draft outlines to support the above activities. I can also provide marked up reference packs or enter references into Zinc MAPS (Zinc Electronic Review for the Pharmaceutical Industry) according to the client’s needs.

Freelance copywriting

My freelance copywriting work has included detail aids, leave pieces, press releases, editorials, web pages and apps for a number of OTC and Rx pharmaceuticals.

I have long-standing, direct working relationships with academic groups based outside the UK who do not have English as their first language. I rewrite their manuscripts in good English and also carry out a style check to ensure that manuscripts fit the requirements of the team’s chosen journal.

*Subject to and in accordance with guidelines for the involvement of professional medical writers in academic publications.
